At Lluita Integral, we are your Legionella control company in Girona, specializing in the prevention and treatment of this bacteria in domestic, industrial, and community environments. We apply rigorous technical protocols tailored to each type of facility, because we know that effective disinfection is only possible when accompanied by thorough cleaning.

The real risks of Legionella and why it acts so quickly

Legionella can grow in water systems when temperature, stagnation and nutrient conditions are favourable. Risk arises mainly from inhaling contaminated aerosols and may also occur through microaspiration of contaminated water. Prevention therefore focuses on controlling the bacteria within the system and reducing the conditions that favour its spread.

In facilities such as cooling towers, spas, and air conditioning systems, Legionella can multiply undetected. This ability to go unnoticed and spread through the air makes it essential to implement technical and periodic control measures to prevent its spread.

Personalized risk assessment

As a Legionella control company in Girona, we conduct a comprehensive preliminary study with a detailed analysis of the water system, assessment of critical points such as reservoirs or towers, and risk assessment. This customized approach allows us to respond effectively.

Implementation of effective treatments

Once the assessment is complete, we implement solutions that combine rigorous hygiene, temperature control (above 60°C or below 20°C), chemical or physical-chemical treatment, and periodic disinfection of the system.

These measures follow the principles of Royal Decree 487/2022, which requires prevention and control plans tailored to each type of facility and use.

Continuous maintenance: the key to prevention

Initial cleaning is essential, but real success comes from ongoing maintenance. Annual disinfection and checks after extended shutdowns, structural changes, or health recommendations are essential. This approach ensures safe systems without the risk of proliferation.

Our company in Girona not only performs disinfection, but also provides guidance on proper management, temperatures, and best practices to prevent future outbreaks.

Regulations that support our work

Currently, all drinking water facilities that generate aerosols must have a Legionella Prevention and Control Plan (PPCL), according to Royal Decree 487/2022, amended by Royal Decree 614/2024. These regulations establish the need for technical protocols, a technical report, and specific actions following any changes to the facilities.

At Lluita Integral, we comply with all legal requirements in the development, implementation, and updating of these plans.
